SNP arrays work by hybridizing fragmented single-stranded DNA to arrays that contain hundreds of thousands of unique nucleotide probe sequences. Each probe is designed to bind to a specific DNA subsequence. The arrays can then identify loss of heterozygosity (LOH) at individual nucleotides and copy number changes.
